Put ice in the Boston glass. Add 1/4 oz. dry vermouth. Stir. Strain away the vermouth and melt water. Add gin to vermouth-flavored ice. Stir. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Can also be built on-the-rocks in an old-fashioned glass. Can also (in either case) be garnished with a lemon twist. If garnished with an cocktail onion it is called a Gibson.
